From Tristan Thompson to Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s all too common for married men to stray – often only coming clean when their lover falls pregnant.
It happens in Hollywood, in the House of Commons, and in the lives of us mere mortals too.
And now one teen has taken to Reddit to share what happened when she spotted her 41-year-old dad in her local cafe with a heavily pregnant younger woman.
At first, the 16-year-old thought they were just two platonic colleagues having a drink, but when he started stroking the mystery woman’s hair, she started secretly recording them, and caught them kissing on camera.
She then boldly confronted them.
Writing anonymously on Reddit, the teenager said: ‘I decided to confront my dad, I just said: “hey dad, what are you doing?”
‘He looked shocked but then said: “Oh, just getting coffee with a friend.’
‘I decided to be brave and said: “So you kiss all your friends like that?”
‘I saw panic in his eyes and he quickly said: “Don’t tell your mum.”
‘I then asked if the baby was his. He said a quick “yes” whilst not even looking at me.
‘I just said: “Wow you had at least around nine months to tell mum about your affair, yet you haven’t, I’m really disappointed in you.” Then I left.

‘I can’t believe my dad did this, my mum definitely deserves better.’
The poster wasted no time telling her mum everything when she got back from her job as a nurse.
She wrote: ‘When I told my mum she was upset and cried for a while and wanted to be left alone.
‘Then my dad came home with flowers to try and suck up.
‘Long story short they yelled and argued a lot and now my mum and I are packed up going to my grandma’s.’

The girl’s unfortunate story has gained a lot of attention online, and comments have flooded in sending her support and praising her for being ‘really brave’.
One commenter said: ‘I just want to let you know that despite what your father will tell you, all of this is his fault, not yours.
‘If your mom is heartbroken, it’s his fault, not yours. If they get divorced, it’s his fault, not yours.’
Another echoed this sentiment, writing: ‘My dad blamed me for his divorce.
‘I was in college and didn’t live at home. His justification was that they got along just fine before they had me.
‘Some people just can’t accept personal responsibility. OP, if your dad does this, don’t believe it.’
