Coronation Street star Wendi Peters has joined the cast of BBC One’s Doctors.
The actress, best known for her role as Cilla Battersby-Brown, will join the popular afternoon drama as Doctor Nina Bulsara, described as a ‘maddening’ new character.
The news of Wendi’s arrival to Letherbridge was announced on Morning Live, where she told presenters Gethin Jones and Sam Quek a little more about her new character:
‘I’m having a brilliant time. Dr Nina comes from a very well bought up background, married to a consultant who passed away from a stroke, she is just set on entering Letherbridge with a mission, she knows what she wants and hopefully she’ll get it’.
Sounds intriguing!
Elizabeth Dermot Walsh, who plays the fierce Zara Carmichael, is also looking forward to seeing Nina on screen, tweeting: ‘Can’t wait for you to meet this charming, dynamic and maddening character on screen. There are going to be some ruffled feathers in Letherbridge!’.

Gethin and Sam couldn’t do an interview with Wendi without asking her about her time on Coronation Street, where she played Cilla on and off from 2003-2014.
‘Cilla was great fun to play’, she said.
‘I also really liked the evil side to her; she took Rita to court and was really nasty and then she was slightly light hearted and she just had a load of fun!’.
In 2014, when Cilla departed Weatherfield, it was soon revealed she had moved to Wolverhampton and was living with osteoporosis.
