Katie Price was reportedly left ‘devastated’ after losing her pet chihuahua Captain while on holiday.
The reality star was enjoying a getaway to Sandbanks in Dorset with her fiance Carl Woods, when the pup went missing.
A source said: ‘Katie was in bits. She thought Captain would be fine off his lead as they were staying on a friend’s private property which was very secure but he managed to run off.
‘They couldn’t find him anywhere and everyone was looking.’
They added to The Sun: ‘Katie was devastated thinking she has lost him for good, or that he might get run over.’
Thankfully, after eight hours, Katie received a call to say Captain had been found.
He had been taken to a local vet, where they were able to identify him from his microchip.
Katie first introduced Captain to fans in May this year.
However, the star, who has owned a veritable menagerie of pets over the years, including horses, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a chameleon and a hedgehog, previously came under fire as a pet owner.
The mum of five has a complex history of pet ownership over the years, which has included her Alsatian, Sparkle, being killed by a car after it escaped her property and ran out onto a busy A road in 2020, while dog Queenie was run over by a pizza delivery van.

One of her horses was also killed in a crash.
In 2020, her daughter Princess’s puppy Rolo reportedly suffocated to death after being crushed in an electric armchair in a tragic accident after allegedly being left unsupervised.
A petition, calling for Katie to be banned from owning pets, was later created, reaching more than 21,000 signatures.
‘A puppy has died in the last 24 hours in Katie Price’s care, she bought this puppy for her 13-year-old child three weeks ago,’ it read.
‘In the last five years more animals have died from lack of care. Horses. Dogs. Cats Lizards Hedgehogs. This isn’t a single family tragedy. It’s a common thing in Katie Price’s home.’
A spokesperson for Katie later told The Sun that she is ‘aware’ of the petition circulating online, but it is ‘incorrect’ for it to state that she does not love animals.
They told the publication: ‘Katie is aware of this petition. It comes as a devastating blow as it is wholly biased, based on hearsay and not actual fact.
‘Katie loves her animals, to say otherwise is incorrect, unjust and unkind, it couldn’t be further from the truth.’
PETA director Elisa Allen told The Sun: ‘Given her track record with animals, several of whom have died in her ‘care’, it would be irresponsible and reckless for Katie to be allowed to acquire another one.
‘And any breeder willing to sell to her is clearly putting profit over the animals’ welfare.’
‘Kate can do no right in some people’s eyes,’ Katie’s rep responded to Metro.co.uk at the time in a statement. ‘Kate has always been an avid pet lover and as we’ve mentioned before Kate would welcome a conversation with PETA organisational director, Elisa Allen, but Elisa has yet to get in touch.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Katie Price for comment.
