In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mirror, former footballer Gary Lineker has vowed to use the World Cup to turn the spotlight on homophobia and human rights abuses in Qatar. 

The World Cup in Qatar kicks off in November. 

The football pundit, who will be the face of the BBC’s world cup coverage says he knows of two gay Premier League players thinking of coming out. He says he hopes they do and that they choose to come out during the tournament to send a message to countries where being gay is illegal.
