Queen’s coffin
Queen’s coffin has arrived in Edinburgh following a six-hour journey from Balmoral, with thousands of mourners lining the streets in the Scottish capital.
The hearse carrying the Queen’s oak coffin, draped with the Royal Standard of Scotland with a wreath of Balmoral flowers on top, made its way onto the Royal Mile after a long journey south of Scotland. The convoy carrying the late Queen arrived at Holyroodhouse in the Scottish capital just before 4.30pm, where today’s journey ends. Mourners who had come out to watch the hugely poignant, yet historic moment, began applauding when the hearse passed. Pallbearers removed the coffin from the hearse as Princess Anne watched on nearby.
