Russia blames Ukraine for Darya Dugina killing
Russia has accused Ukraine of killing the daughter of one of President Putin’s allies in a car bombing at the weekend.
Darya Dugina, 29, died on Saturday when a vehicle she was driving exploded near Moscow.
Her father, Alexander Dugin, is reported to be close to the Russian president, and it has been suggested he may have been the target.
Ukrainian officials have denied any involvement in the car bombing.
But Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Monday that it had solved the case and said Ukraine was directly responsible.
The FBS told Russian media that a woman who had moved to Russia in July with her young daughter was in fact a Ukrainian special services contractor.
The woman reportedly rented an apartment in the same building as Ms Dugina for a month.
During that time she was preparing for the attack, following Ms Dugina through Moscow in a Mini Cooper – for which she had three licence plates.
The FBS said the suspect escaped to Estonia after the explosion.
But Ukraine officials have slammed the FSB’s version calling it “Russian propaganda” from “a fictional world.”
