Liz Truss tests positive after a commons debate. The British foreign secretary announced on Twitter that she has tested positive for Covid, shortly after sitting in a packed House of Commons without wearing a mask.
Writing on Twitter on Monday evening, the UK’s foreign secretary said: “I tested positive for Covid this evening. Thankfully I’ve had my three jabs and will be working from home while I isolate.”
A breakout in Parliament
This news from Westminister could lead to a breakout in parliament. Following the Suer graves report, the House of Commons was packed with all MP’s looking to see if the Prime Minister would resign.
Her announcement comes hours after the education secretary, Nadhim Zahawi, said he had tested positive for the virus.
After the session in the Commons, during which she gave a statement about Russia, The foreign secretary also attended a full meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the trip to Ukraine.
Tory Members need to isolate and test
She also attended the Tory MPs and ministers on meeting on Monday evening at Portcullis House in Westminster, where it is reported she did not wear a face mask.
All members of the parliamentary Conservative party were invited to the meeting, with the rooms reportedly being so full that some MPs left early.
Very few Tory MPs, including on the Commons frontbench, wore masks in the Commons on Monday; the chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and health secretary, Sajid Javid, were notable exceptions.
The Foreign Secretary had been due to travel to Ukraine with the prime minister on Tuesday.
