BREAKING NEWS: Diego Maradona dead: Argentina legend dies aged 60
Football legend Diego Maradona has passed away aged 60 after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest on Wednesday., according to multiple reports. Maradona underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a blood clot from his brain.
Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, helped Argentina win the World Cup in 1986, the pinnacle of an illustrious career. He is immortalised by Napoli fans leading them to two Serie A titles, the first in their history, singlehandedly taking on the northern giants of Juventus and AC Milan.
Maradona didn’t control the ball; he commanded it. There was never any doubt whose side it was on, whom it favoured in a game. It did his bidding as surely as if he had it on strings, on a remote control, in his hands. And to put it into perspective Zidane is in the top 5 greatest of all time but for a French legend to say this is unreal.
“What Zidane could do with a ball, Maradona could do with an orange,” French Football Legend Michel Platini
He played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli and Barcelona among others and was adored by millions for his brilliant skills.
Maradona was responsible for the infamous ‘Hand of God’ that eliminated England from the 1986 tournament.
