A 95-year-old woman was tied up in her own home by a robber posing as a window cleaner.
The intruder demanded cash from the woman during the ‘vile’ incident in Salford, Greater Manchester, on Tuesday morning.
He fled when a friend of the elderly victim’s turned up at the property in Little Hulton.
Luckily, the woman was not injured. She is being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies said: ‘This was a vile incident in which a woman was tied up and threatened, and we are determined to locate the man responsible.

‘Thankfully, this was not a more serious situation, and we commend the brave actions of the lady’s friend who confronted the man and called officers.’
The robber is described as white male and approximately in his late 60s to early 70s. He had short mousy brown hair combed back, no facial hair, glasses and appeared well-kempt.
He was wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans and dark-coloured shoes.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: ‘No arrests have been made but extensive enquiries are ongoing and an additional police presence will be in the area for the coming days.
‘As part of our enquiries and response, we have attended the scene and gathered evidence which is currently being assessed and acted upon.
‘Officers are now asking the public for any information that they may have, and that could help with their investigation.
‘This includes any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from around the area at the time- or anyone who saw anything suspicious.’
