Musician Midge Ure, known for 80s bands like Thin Lizzy and Ultravox, has been forced to reschedule ‘all shows’ after ‘urgent’health issue.
The 71-year-old icon was set to perform in Europe, the US, Australia and New Zealand later this year but has scrapped performances for the rest of the year.
‘It is with great sadness and difficulty that I have to reschedule all shows planned from September onwards,’ he said in a statement.
‘During a recent routine check-up, doctors discovered a health issue that requires urgent treatment and a period of recovery.’
Midge did not specify any details of the concern but added he was ‘truly sorry for any inconvenience or disruption’ this caused.
‘I remain fully committed to performing all shows currently scheduled for this month and I’m looking forward to being out there with you for as long as I’m able,’ he reassured fans.

Midge rose to fame in the 80s in various popular bands such as Rich Kids, Slik, Visage and Ultravox before going solo, to further chart success.
Alongside Bob Geldof, he organised Band Aid, having co-written and produced the charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas?
The new wave songwriter continued his philanthropy and went on to be involved with Live Aid and Live 8, as well as being an ambassador for Save The Children.
While tour dates from September are being axed, Midge reassured everyone that his A Man Of Two Worlds Tour is ‘very much going ahead.’
He reassured fans that his previously announced A Man Of Two Worlds Tour, due to take place in May and June of 2026, is “very much going ahead”.
Announced last month and due to take place in May and June of 2026, the tour promises to offer a ‘rare and deeply personal concert experience’ for fans by bringing together album favourites with ‘cinematic instrumentals’.
His statement continued: ‘I’m aiming to be back on the road again as soon as possible and looking forward to getting back out there and sharing this music with you all.
‘My team and I are working closely with promoters to reschedule the affected dates, and we’ll share updates on my Facebook page as soon as we have them. I kindly ask that you respect the privacy of myself and my family during this difficult time.’
He ended the statement saying: ‘Thank you, as always, for your understanding, patience, and unwavering support. It truly means a great deal. With thanks and love, Midge.’
The Fade to Grey star recently played Isle of Wight Festival, seemingly in good spirits when the announcement was made, as he teased fans might ‘strain your eyes’ finding him in the stacked lineup.
Before his announcement, Midge posted on Instagram saying it was a ‘beautiful’ night in Miltenberg, performing ‘by the side of the Mainz River’.
