At least 7 dead after shooting at Hamburg Jehovah’s Witness hall
A shooting at a Jehovah’s Witness meeting hall in Hamburg, Germany has left seven people dead and several others injured.
The gunman is believed to have acted alone and is thought to be dead, with no clear motive yet known.
The perpetrator is reported to be a former member of the religious community, aged between 30 and 40. The victims have not yet been identified, and investigations are ongoing.
The police were called to the scene on Deelböge street, Gross Borstel district, at around 21:15 local time on Thursday.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a person frantically running from the building.
Police found people who had been seriously injured or fatally shot inside the building.
Authorities believe that people had gathered for a Bible study when the shooting began.
Hamburg’s Mayor Peter Tschentscher expressed his condolences to the victims’ families, and forensic experts have been working at the scene to gather evidence.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian-based religious movement founded in the US in the late 19th century.
