There won’t be a dry eye left across the nation after Coronation Street’s Christmas offerings, which are set to be incredibly emotional as the ITV soap bids farewell to a true legend.
Peter, who is struggling with his role in the demise of killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), has been contemplating his next chapter for quite some time, confiding in Carla (Alison King) that he’s finding life rather difficult at the minute.
Carla therefore takes it upon herself to get Peter a particularly special Christmas gift, which leaves him overwhelmed.
Afterwards, the couple look back over their tumultuous relationship and realise that, though they will always love each other, maybe it’s better that they part ways.

With that, Peter packs his bags and find the whole family waiting for him outside. Exchanging emotional farewells with everyone, he promises Ken (William Roache) that he’ll keep in touch as he bids farewell to Weatherfield on Boxing Day.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) look forward to a peaceful Christmas Day, with just the two of them to keep each other company.
