Iheanacho, Leicester defeat poor Manchester United 3-1 – FA Cup Quarter-Final result

Iheanacho, Leicester defeat poor Manchester United 3-1 – FA Cup Quarter-Final result

A Kelechi Iheanacho brace helped Leicester City defeat Manchester United 3-1 in this FA Cup Quarter-Final.

Iheanacho’s brace and a wonderful Youri Tielemans finish sent Leicester to their first FA Cup Semi-Final since 1982.

Horrible Fred error gifted Leicester’s opener

The first goal of this FA Cup Quarter-Final fixture between Leicester and Manchester United came in the 24th minute for Leicester.

United tried playing it out from the back, with Harry Maguire feeding it to Fred at the edge of the United box.

Leicester’s high-press paid off, when Fred’s loose back-pass to United keeper Dean Henderson was cut out by Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Leicester striker then easily took it around Henderson, before tapping it into an open United net to open the scoring in this FA Cup Quarter-Final.

Manchester United then equalised against Leicester in this FA Cup Quarter-Final thanks to Greenwood’s goal in the 38th minute.

After United’s Paul Pogba received the ball on the left-wing near the by-line, he just about managed to pass it into the Leicester box.

The pass found Donny van de Beek, who must’ve heard a shout from his United team-mate, as he expertly let the ball run through his legs.

As a result, Greenwood ran onto the end of the pass and smashed it past Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Superb Tielemans effort re-gave Leicester the lead

Leicester’s Youri Tielemans played brilliantly against Manchester United

Leicester retook the lead against Manchester United in the 52nd minute thanks to a wonderful solo goal from Youri Tielemans.

After playing a nice 1-2 pass with Iheanacho near the half-way line, Tielemans drove forward with the ball into acres of space.

The Leicester midfielder managed to get all the way to the edge of the United box next to the D.

Tielemans then smashed a low-driven strike into the bottom left corner past the outstretched arms of United keeper Henderson.

Iheanacho’s second punished United’s poor marking

Leicester scored a third in the 78th minute and confirmed their place in the FA Cup Semi-Finals.

Marc Albrighton’s free-kick from near the by-line on the left wing was looped over everybody to the back-post.

The free-kick was accurate, perfectly finding an open Iheanacho – who should have been marked closer by United’s Scott McTominay.

Instead, McTominay tries to leap and head the ball away, completely missing it and allowing Iheanacho to head the ball in from close-range with help from Henderson, who could only palm the ball onto his own crossbar and in.
