Three US troops killed in drone strike on US base in Middle East

Three US troops lost their lives, and dozens were injured in a drone attack on a US base near Jordan’s border with Syria. US President Joe Biden has said “radical Iran-backed militant groups” are responsible and vowed a response. 

Despite Biden’s claim, Iran has denied any involvement in the assault.

The strike, marking the first instance of US troop casualties in the region since Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, took place in Syria, according to Jordan, not within its borders.

While there have been previous attacks on US bases in the region, this is the first time fatalities have occurred. 

It is not clear who is behind this latest attack.
