Just when Valentine’s Day couldn’t get any sweeter, Netflix dropped a special teaser of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

We hope we have your attention dearest readers!

The new limited series spinoff will chronicle the early years of Golda Rosheuvel’s Queen Charlotte from the OG series – which stars Phoebe Dynevor, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley.

This time around, India Amarteifio, previously seen in Line of Duty, plays the young monarch in this brand new backstory.

According to the streaming platform, the series will be ‘centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power’.

‘This Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton,’ the description continues.

In September 2022, the streaming giant treated fans with a first look at the young queen wearing an ornate crown, showstopping jewellery and a gorgeous robe beneath a white, intricate gown.

The latest promo shows how Charlotte met and fell in love with King George III (Corey Mylchreest). We later see their romance blossom followed by a flash forward to a sad-looking Queen Charlotte in the Regency era.

‘Your marriage is the business of this country! This cannot go wrong!’ George’s mother harshly tells him, as a montage of Charlotte and George bickering plays.

Fans will also see a young Lady Danbury (originally played by Adjoa Andoh) Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and leading lady Charlotte declaring: ‘This is my home. I am the queen.’

Michelle Fairley also joins the cast as Princess Augusta, with Arsema Thomas playing the young Agatha Danbury.

In other Bridgerton news, we know that season three is in production, which will focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) – aka gossip queen Lady Whistledown – and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

While the series – which is made by Shonda Rhimes’ production company Shondaland – is set in the English capital during the Regency era, several members of the cast were spotted filming season 3 in Bath last month.

Queen Charlotte premieres on Thursday May 4 on Netflix.
