2020 US Election: Trump preparing for in-person weekend rallies, Pelosi questions Trump’s health, No virtual debate
In today’s US presidential election news; President Trump announces he is preparing for two in-person rallies this weekend in Florida and Pennsylvania. It comes after his campaign trail came to a halt after the president was diagnosed with Covid-19. Trump is planning to visit Florida on Saturday and Pennsylvania on Sunday. His return to in-person campaigning is aimed at proving he is healthy enough to campaign and to lead the country.
According to the president’s doctors, Trump has completed his course of treatment for Covid-19 and will be fit to resume his campaign trail by Saturday. Dr Sean Conely said Trump responded “extremely well” to treatment.
On Thursday Trump refused to take part in a next week’s virtual presidential debate with Democrat rival Joe Biden. The president called it a “waste of time” after it was announced the debate would be held virtually following the president’s coronavirus diagnosis.
Nancy Pelosi questions whether Trump is fit to serve. The Democratic House Speaker announced legislation that would create a commission to allow Congress to intervene under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution and remove the president from executive duties. Pelosi has said Trump needs to disclose more about his health after his Covid-19 diagnosis.
“The public needs to know the health condition of the president,” Pelosi said.
