Luxury brands are skipping Fashion week. Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Coach, Tory Burch decided to skip New York Fashion week. Burberry in London. Gucci, St. Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen in Milan and Paris also skipped fashion week.
But why are some of the biggest luxury brands in fashion turning away from fashion weeks?
Fashion Week 2021 – What happened?
The houses listed above are still marketing their fashion and the latest looks. Most of the labels are staging events of their own to attract customers. And many of these labels are reviewing their strategy in order to include social media and gain an individual focus on their presentations.
The Business of Fashion says by skipping shows during fashion week they are creating structural opportunities. Skipping fashion week and delaying their own shows until closer to the selling seasons assures a closer sensible relationship between public presentations and when the fashion is in shops.
This has been a big problem in the past when fashions were shown too early to be in demand.
It’s worth keeping in mind that fashion is marketed globally and consumers demand newness at a quick speed. Luxury clothing brands such as Gucci have completely got rid of seasonal collections. There is no longer a Spring/ Summer or Autumn/Winter collection. They now continually add new items to their collections.

Luxury clothing brands, fashion week – What next?
When the pandemic passes, there will likely be a return to fashion weeks. But it’ll likely be different than before. Some suggest a global event instead of a month-long circuit that jumps from New York to London to Milan and finally Paris.
The global event could be held in any of these places at different times of the year.
