Metro – Your country will need you to fight Putin 

The Metro leads on comments from a British Army general hinting that men and women across the UK should be prepared to be called up to fight a potential war against Russia in the future. Gen Sir Patrick says Britain should train a “citizen army” ready to fight a war on land in the future.

The paper quotes his warning that an increase in reserve forces alone “would not be enough”, pointing to the threat from Russia and the steps being taken by other European nations to put their populations on a “war footing”. Next to the text of the main story is a nod to the famous Lord Kitchener Wants You poster which was developed in 1914 to boost recruitment.
