Will Starmer be able to stand up to Trump

Trump's impact on US-EU trade relations and will Starmer be able to stand up to Trump

Will Starmer be able to stand up to Trump and his aggressive MAGA strategy that is using a sledgehammer to negotiate. MAGA is motivated by a deep distrust of America’s allies rather than of America’s enemies.

In Trump’s mind we have ripped America off and taken its friendship for granted. In these circumstances, nothing can be ruled out.

Will Starmer be able to stand up to Trump

Trump is an American nationalist who puts America first, not Britain. Whether Trump truly defends American interests is a question for another day. But it is clear that Farage, and much of the Tory right, are failing to defend Britain.

The government has been treading very carefully around Trump

They claim to be patriots and display nothing but scorn for the supposedly globalist liberal-left. Yet they are leaving themselves wide open to the charge that they are acting as Trump’s poodles. Farage and his allies are openly infatuated with the Trump personality cult.

The government has been treading very carefully around Trump

The government has been treading very carefully around Trump since he returned to office and avoiding either criticising him or directly contradicting his suggestions on issues such as trade.

Keir Starmer “took a call from President Trump” during a meeting with the new US special envoy to the UK, Mark Burnett (He produced the Apprentice for US television). No 10 said the pair “discussed his forthcoming visit to the US”. In an earlier call with Volodymyr Zelensky, the PM said Ukraine is on an “irreversible” path to NATO.

The brutal reality – Tariffs on the UK

The brutal reality, all the Labour government can do therefore is grovel before a Trump administration it would otherwise condemn as “far right”.

Strangely, given their political differences, Starmer risks falling into the same trap as Nigel Farage, who seems incapable of grasping that the UK is not part of the US or a dependent colony. It truly is a business partner who the US have used to strengthen its stance around the world. let’s get this right, The US would not be half as strong as it is, if Britain was not behind them.

Kemi Badenoch has just been speaking with broadcasters, and she was asked if the UK government should retaliate against the US if Donald Trump decides to impose tariffs on the UK.

Lammy has been sucking up to the the Americans

Lammy has been sucking up to the the Americans

Foreign Secretary Lammy has been sucking up to the the Americans saying he looked forward to discussing support for Ukraine, as well as European security.

The foreign secretary mentioned the ‘special relationships’ 4 times, also described the US-UK relationship as “more than just an alliance, it’s a covenant between two partners”. Something the Vice president did not concur.

Keir Starmer did make a statement on Ukraine, the PM is finally taking a more muscular stance – not just in his broader expression of support, but specifically in his commitment to the country being on an “irreversible path to NATO, as agreed by allies at the Washington Summit last year”.

Reform have submitted to Trump’s will

Reform’s high opinion ratings and the euphoria on the radical right at Trump’s victory are temporarily masking the recklessness of Farage’s foreign alliances.

You might think that Labour would be helping highlight Farage’s weaknesses. Large sections of the British public think it is shameful for a British political leader to abase himself before a foreign leader.

However, Labour cannot attack Farage’s Trump worship for fear of alienating Washington. The need to protect what’s left of the ‘special relationship’ comes before all else irrespective of the impending tariffs on the UK.

Trump alienates people across the UK: from the woke left, through traditional conservatives, to everyone with enough common decency to oppose yobs, bullies, loudmouths, and grifters.

Imagine what would happen if Starmer did stand up to Trump

The British government can’t just sit back and hope Trump won’t hit us with tariffs directly. He’s proven time and again how unpredictable he is.

Now the unimaginable is all-too conceivable. France developed an independent nuclear deterrent after Suez. But the UK’s Trident programme is not independent of US control, maintenance and testing of the UK’s submarines depend on Washington, and the nuclear missiles aboard them are leased. We’ve let ourselves get into a position of dependency similar to a trauma bond. between a victim and their abuser.

We are beginning to see the damage our relationship with the US has caused, the capitalist wave that is crossing from the Atlantic has destroyed the NHS, having been sold and tied down to American software and medical industries instead of the established British ones.

This trend is continuing as Farage cried at a rally in Essex on Saturday, bring in American businesses to take over British ones, as the Californian consultant, with a table at corporate London.

Canada is a member of the Commonwealth

Canadians may dispute this but in reality, throughout most of its history, Canada has been a proxy of either Britain or the United States. But as it stands now, it looks as if the British will lose the commonwealth member.

“Canada is a member of the Commonwealth and Charles III is its king.” Sir Ed Davey, the Lib Dem leader, asked Starmer: “Why weren’t we supporting our ally when it was under attack from the loutish leader of a hostile foreign power?”

The Prime Minister evaded that question. trump went on to push his agenda, without resistance.

“What I’d like to see – Canada become our 51st state,” Trump said, when asked what concessions Canada could offer to stave off US tariffs. Trump belittled the Prime Minister of Canada by calling him ‘Governor Trudeau’ saying Canadians need U.S. ‘protection’ yesterday demonstrating his arrogance and abbrasavice nature.

Again the PM remained silent. He is simply too afraid to stand up to Trump, but he shouldn’t be, because the US are equally reliant on us as we are on them, and what is more dangerous to the US is the UK building a closer alliance with EU (Brexit reset) and strengthen the EU’s position globally, which would be a power comparable to the US.

If Trump were to come for us, will Starmer be able to stand up to Trump? it’s possible to see the British following the French example and developing a patriotism based on opposition to America – and leaving Nigel Farage and Keir Starmer in the dust.
