Unicef asks G7 countries to donate now or risk wasting vaccines

Unicef has warned millions of vaccines could go to waste if rich countries send large amounts of leftovers to poorer countries in one go. The charity has stressed there needs to be a steady supply throughout the year because poor countries do not have the resources to use them all at once. 

Many countries including the UK have promised to donate their surplus vaccines – but are being asked to donate much earlier. Stars such as David Beckham and Billie Eilish are backing Unicef’s plea.
