The cause of death for Extreme Weight Loss star Brandi Mallory has been confirmed after she died aged 40.
Last month, it was confirmed that the TV star had died on November 9 in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Mallory, who worked as a makeup artist, appeared in the fourth season of the ABC series in 2014.
She weighed 329 lb at the beginning of the programme, losing 151 lb throughout the process, which saw her compete in a Half Ironman spanning 70.3 miles.
In a document obtained by TMZ, the Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia confirmed Mallory’s cause of death, stating that she had an enlarged heart and some ‘elevated bloody indicators suggestive of prediabetes’.
The document from the coroner read, according to the publication: ‘It is my opinion that Brandi E. Mallory died of complications of obesity was considered a significant condition contributing to the death.’

The coroner is said to have described Mallory’s death as ‘natural’, and confirmed that traces of marijuana and alcohol found in her system did not play a role in her death.
In 2018, she opened up about her experience of going on Extreme Weight Loss.
Speaking on journalist Kirby Carroll’s YouTube channel, she said at the time: ‘I was literally waking up every day like… this may be my last day waking up, like, I don’t know what’s going to happen for me.

‘When it’s playing on your mind that I might need to do something about my weight, because I’m afraid I might die too, then you might need to pay attention to something like that.’
She added: ‘Literally every footstep since then has been god. I prayed over that application before I sent it off. I prayed every step of the way.’
Mallory’s final Instagram post before her death was shared on November 3, which featured her in a video taking a bite out of a red apple that she found at a farmer’s market.
A memorial service was held for her by her family on November 12.
