Trump questioned in defamation rape case
America’s former president Donald Trump has been questioned under oath in a lawsuit brought against him by a woman who claims he raped her in the mid-1990s.
E Jean Carroll alleges the attack took place in a New York luxury department store dressing room.
Trump had denied the allegation and said Ms Carroll was lying – which led her to sue him for defamation.
No details of the deposition have been released but it has been confirmed that it took place on Wednesday.
A civil trial in the case is scheduled for 6 February.
CNN said the former president participated remotely, speaking from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Ms Carroll – a longtime Elle advice columnist – said she had a chance encounter with Mr Trump in late 1995 or early 1996 at the department store Bergdorf Goodman.
