Tory MPs were reportedly ‘crying on the shoulders’ of Labour counterparts as chaos descended in the Commons yesterday.
There were claims of ‘bullying’ and even ‘shouting matches’ amid last night’s mayhem.
Labour former minister Chris Bryant said the disorder, which surrounded a vote on fracking, had left politicians ‘utterly desperate’.
The MP, who has been in politics for more than 20 years, said he had never witnessed such chaotic scenes.
He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: ‘Honestly, this was the most extraordinary scene that I’ve seen in my time, and anyway, even if it has happened in the past, that is not how we should do our business – we are not the Italian parliament – and all of this is happening because there is complete chaos in Government.
‘There isn’t a Government.
‘And when the thread of Government sort of falls apart, this is what will end up happening day in day out: you will just have complete and utter chaos.

‘I had Tory MPs later in the evening literally, including one whip actually, crying on my shoulder.
‘They are in the territory of being utterly desperate about what’s going on.’
Mr Bryant last night had claimed MPs were ‘manhandled’ and ‘bullied’ into voting a certain way in Parliament.
Disorder had descended after Liz Truss survived a crunch vote on her fracking plans.
But later chaotic scenes unfolded as her leadership continued to be hanging by the skin of her teeth.
Shadow minister Anna McMorrin had written on Twitter that she witnessed one Conservative MP ‘in tears’ in the lobby.
There were also wild reports that the Prime Minister and Suella Braverman had a ‘fiery’ bust up before the Home Secretary left her job yesterday.
Ms Braverman unexpectedly quit following a security issue that saw her send classified documents from a personal email.

Ms Braverman’s departure reportedly came after a ’90-minute shouting match’.
Multiple sources told the Daily Mail that the ex Home Secretary, who was defeated in the Tory leadership race this summer, warned the PM that it would be ‘insane’ to relax immigration rules in order to boost economic growth.
One said: ‘(Ms Braverman has) obviously gone because of a bust-up.
‘She was always a flight risk, like Penny Mordaunt – she’s positioning herself for what’s to come.’
Multiple Tory MPs have now called for Ms Truss’s resignation as chaos continues to reign within the party.
