TikTok will be blocked from ‘all parliamentary devices and the wider parliamentary network’ as the government ramps up cyber security.
The new ban means the social media app will be blocked by the WiFi servers and from all parliamentary-issued devices.
The speakers of the Commons and Lords have said that cyber security is a ‘top priority’ and they believe that this is a ‘necessary step to ensure our parliamentary digital devices remain as secure as possible.’
It comes as the TikTok chief faces questions on security at the US Congress.
And last week the app was banned from UK government phones.
A Parliament spokesman said: ‘Following the Government’s decision to ban TikTok from Government devices, the commissions of both the House of Commons and Lords have decided that TikTok will be blocked from all parliamentary devices and the wider parliamentary network.
‘Cyber security is a top priority for Parliament, however we do not comment on specific details of our cyber or physical security controls, policies or incidents.’
