Emmerdale viewers had a spot of deja vu on Friday when newcomer Julie arrived in the Dales – with many wondering where they had seen the actress playing her before.
The character showed up on Friday night as the husband of evil newcomer Lloyd, who ended up critically injured in hospital after being confronted by Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) over his harassment of his daughter Amelia (Daisy Campbell)
She was seen confronting Dan as he visited Lloyd in hospital, saying he was someone who ‘wouldn’t hurt a fly’ – and refusing to believe his story.
Who is the actress playing Julie – and just where have you seen her before?
Who plays Julie in Emmerdale?
Julie is played by actress Emma Stansfield.
Emma, 45, was born Emma Thompson in Monmouthshire, Wales – changing her name when she began her acting careeras the other Emma Thompson was already registered with Equity.
She’s worked extensively on stage and TV, appearing in such shows as The Tudors, Skins, Best Laid Plans and The Salisbury Poisonings.
However, Emmerdale is not the first soap she’s appeared in.
Which other soaps has Emma Stansfield been in?
Viewes might recognise Emma from Coronation Street, appearing as Ronnie Clayton in 56 episodes from 2005-2006.
Ronnie worked in the cab office with Steve McDonald, and even embarked on a romance with the Weatherfield lothario.
But her biggest storyline saw her kill someone in a shocking hit-and-run. In a bid to get away with the crime, she pinned the blame on Steve!
Steve, however, was able to clear his name when he confessed to sleeping with Kelly Crabtree on the night of the incident – and Ronnie was eventually arrested for the crime.

Ronnie, therefore, was eventually arrested for the crime.
It wasn’t her only appearance in the soap either, as she appeared in 2021 as a character named Penny – who was called out by Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) after not inviting Hope Stape to her child’s birthday party.

Emma also popped up in EastEnders in 2019 as DS Olivia Kowalski – who tried to stop Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter) from escaping during the Queen Vic siege.
And in 2021 she appeared in Doctors as Rosie Statham, the mother of a 16-year-old who died after taking drugs at a party.
Emmerdale continues on ITV on Monday night at 7.30pm.
