The double is possible – winning the Premier League and Champions League can happen as Pep Guardiola believes Man City have the chance.
Despite enjoying a comfortable win in the first leg away to Sporting Lisbon, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola insists the last-16 tie is not over.
“Normally we have to find the goals and in Portugal, we found the goals before we found our game. In football, this can happen,” he said.
“We got an incredible result in the first leg and it’s 5-0 but nothing is done, football is unpredictable and the double is possible.
“The pride of the Sporting players, they want to perform well and we have to be ready.”
Guardiola added: “I said after the first leg, the 5-0 was not the reality or the difference between our teams. But we found the goals quick – four shots on target, four goals. When the result is good, it looks easy. But I have a lot of respect for the job Sporting are doing.”

He was also asked if he thought it is possible to win the Premier League and Champions League in the same season?
“It can happen but it’s not easy, but with 14-15 players [currently available] we need the squad.
“Every season we’re battling for the latter stages. We are going to try. Every season when we are fighting for both, we reach the semi-final and final. The Treble is just the next one. Step-by-step, we’ll see.”
Ederson Man CIty’s goalkeeper added “Our goal is to win every competition we go into, this is no different,”
“We need to take it step-by-step. There are challenges in every competition we play in.”
Asked if winning the Treble was realistic, he added: “Definitely – we know how difficult it is. A season here in England is very intense when there’s a lot of demand. We have the quality to do this and I think we’re fully capable of meeting that.”
