Financial Times – Tax burden surged despite Hunt cuts
“Tax burden surged despite Hunt cuts,” writes the Financial Times, as it reports that the chancellor has cut business and personal taxes by £20bn in the autumn statement.
The paper says the budget watchdog – the Office for Budget Responsibility – has “shed a harsh light on the chancellor’s fiscal plan”, with the tax burden rising for each of the next five years.
