The price of food has been severely impacted by the current cost of living crisis, with some basics such as pasta more than doubling in price over the past year.
While inflation may be coming down the price of many bills and essentials remains stubbornly high, leaving millions of us looking for ways to save the pennies in order to make ends meet.
As such the major supermarkets have been doing whatever they can to help shoppers who are feeling the squeeze – by cutting the cost of items where possible, as well as adding more products to low-cost value ranges.
Here’s what prices have been cut at the major supermarket chains this month.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has this month expanded the number of products in its Aldi Price Match campaign, with over 400 of its items now included in the deal.
New products in the range this month have included burger buns, Bramley apple pies, own brand soups, tikka masala cooking sauce and tinned sweetcorn.

Nectar Prices have also been made available on frozen foods this month for the first time – meaning card holders can pick up some items for half the price of non-card holders.
Products in the new deal include Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages, reduced to £1.25 for Nectar card holders from £2.50, Birds Eye Omega 3 fish fingers which cost card holders £1.50 instead of £3, Quorn vegetarian chicken style nuggets down to £1.25 from £2.50 and Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Pepperoni Pizza, just £1.50 for Nectar members instead of £3.

Both own brand and branded items are included in the deal.
Iceland
Iceland’s Summer Saving’s initiative has seen over 200 products reduced in price.
