Former Trump aide Steve Bannon released from prison after four months
Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Donald Trump, has been released after serving four months in a Connecticut prison for contempt of Congress. Bannon, convicted in 2022 for refusing a subpoena in the January 6 Capitol riot investigation, stated he is “more energised” and remains committed to supporting Trump.
“The four months in federal prison not only didn’t break me, it empowered me,” Bannon said on his podcast following his release.
“I am more energised and more focused than I’ve ever been in my entire life.”
Despite past tensions, Bannon has remained a strong Trump ally and continues to claim the 2020 election was “stolen.” He still faces other legal issues, including fraud and money laundering charges related to a US-Mexico border wall fundraiser.
