RFK apologises over leaked call of Trump coaxing support
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has apologised after a leaked video revealed a private phone call in which Donald Trump seemingly tried to persuade him to support his presidential campaign. In the video, Trump is heard saying, “I would love you to do something, and I think it’ll be so good for you and so big for you. And we’re going to win,” to which Kennedy replies, “Yeah.”
The call, recorded a day before the two met in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the Republican convention was taking place, fueled rumours that Kennedy might exit the race to endorse Trump. However, Kennedy’s spokeswoman clarified that he is not dropping out.
Kennedy expressed regret on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately. I am mortified that this was posted. I apologise to the president.” The video, posted by Kennedy’s son, Robert F. Kennedy III, aimed to reveal Trump’s stance on immunizations but was quickly deleted.

Trump Jr., speaking at an event in Milwaukee, hinted at a possible future collaboration, saying he would “love to see that happen,” although he had no insider information. Opinion polls suggest that Kennedy could draw votes from both Trump and President Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
