Rachel Stevens has addressed remarks that her ex-fiancé has made about their relationship, blasting them as ‘lies’.

In 2002, S Club 7 singer Rachel became engaged to actor Jeremy Edwards, who’s appeared in TV productions including Hollyoaks, Holby City and Millie Inbetween.

The couple ended their relationship a couple of years later, with the former going on to marry Alex Bourne in 2009, and the latter marrying his wife Lydia Metz in the same year.

Despite it being almost two decades since their split, Jeremy, 52, recently gave an interview in which he spoke about his former relationship with Rachel, 45.

He expressed his belief that his former fiancée might have had a ‘fling’ behind his back while they were together, a suggestion that she has since vehemently refuted.

‘This is a completely false story, the below interview is absolute lies, and this did absolutely not happen,’ the musician’s representative told The Mirror.

Jeremy had previously said to The Sun: ‘I’ve thought about our relationship, and I think she did have a fling,’ explaining that he was ‘questioning’ their past relationship.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Rachel had started dating her Dancing On Ice professional partner Brendyn Hatfield, nine months after she split from her husband.

After striking up a close friendship during their time on the show, they were said to be ‘smitten’ and enjoying a ‘developing’ relationship.

‘Rachel had a really great friendship and partnership with Brendyn and it keeps developing,’ a source said.

‘She is taking each day as it comes and focusing on upcoming career projects,’ they added.

Rachel announced her split from her ex-husband Alex last summer, writing on social media: ‘I just wanted to share with you all that after time and consideration the difficult decision has been made for Alex and I to separate.

‘While we are no longer partners in marriage, we will remain partners in parenthood to our beautiful girls and continue with love and respect for each other.

The ex-couple share two daughters together: Amelie, 12 and nine-year-old Minnie.
