Dominic Raab will be ‘bitterly regretting’ staying on Crete holiday as Kabul fell, ex-defence chief says
The i says Dominic Raab will be “bitterly regretting” staying on holiday in Crete as Kabul fell to the Taliban, a former army chief has said.
The Foreign Secretary faced fresh criticism after it emerged he had been asked by a senior Downing Street official on Friday 13 August to return to the UK, but stayed until the evening of Sunday 15.
Mr Raab “nobbled” Boris Johnson to remain in Crete, the Sunday Times reported, despite Taliban militants’ rapid advance on the Afghan capital over that weekend.
