Cliff Notes – Quentin Tarantino finally releasing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair with unseen 7 minutes

    • Cinematic Release: “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” will be released in cinemas on December 5, merging both volumes into a four-hour epic with a new animated sequence.

    • New Animated Sequence: The film will feature a previously unseen seven-minute animated segment, enhancing O-Ren Ishii’s backstory, which Tarantino had initially planned to include.

    • Full-Colour Crazy 88 Fight: The iconic Crazy 88 battle will now be presented in full colour, deviating from the original black-and-white aesthetic used to meet rating requirements.

Over two decades after its initial release, Kill Bill will finally hit cinemas as a four-hour epic movie with a brand new sequence.

Director Quentin Tarantino never originally wanted to split the story into two parts, but it was thought 00s audiences wouldn’t want such a long run time.

The Uma Thurman-fronted action will now be merged for cinematic release: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair.

Not only will this be closer to Tarantino’s original vision, it will also include a never-before-seen animated sequence, which reportedly lasts seven minutes.

A two-second glimpse appeared in the trailer, suggesting a gory addition to O-Ren Ishii’s already violent anime-style backstory.

This animated scene has long been anticipated, as Tarantino teased at Comic-Con in 2014 that there was a 30-minute scene written.

He shared: ‘IG [the Japanese animation studio] who did Ghost in the Shell said we can’t do that and finish it in time for your thing. And you can’t have a 30-minute piece in your movie…I said okay.

‘It was my favourite part but it was the part you could drop. So we dropped it and then later when IG heard we were talking about doing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, they still had the script, so without even being commissioned, they just did it and paid for it themselves’.

Not only could fans get this extended scene, but the iconic Crazy 88 battle, which closes Vol 1, will now be in full colour for the first time.

The House of Blue Leaves fight sees the world turn black and white right as The Bride (Thurman) plucks out a man’s eye.

Fans have been begging for this longer version (Picture: Moviestore/Shutterstock)

This was done to appease ratings, allowing the blood-soaked revenge tale to scrape by as an NC-17 in the US.

Tarantino’s classic sees The Bride hunting down Bill (David Carradine) as she takes revenge on him and the Deadly Vipers Assassination Squad.

She was shot in the head by Bill after telling him she was pregnant, waking up from a coma four years later to find herself in a hospital with no baby.

The Bride takes on the yakuza as well as retired assassin Vivica A. Fox (code name Copperhead) and the still active California Mountain Snake.

Previously, Tarantino hinted that a Volume 3 could be on the way after he met up with Thurman for dinner in 2019.

‘She was bragging about me, and I was bragging about her,’ he said. ‘It was a lovely night.

‘I do have an idea of what I would do. That was the whole thing, conquering that concept… exactly what’s happened to The Bride since [the last film], and what do I want to do [next].’

He continued: I wouldn’t want to just come up with some cockamamie adventure. She doesn’t deserve that!

‘The Bride has fought long and hard. Now, I have an idea that actually could be interesting.

‘I wouldn’t do it for a little bit, though. It would be like at least three years from now or something like that. But look, it is definitely in the cards.’

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will get a cinematic release on December 5, with screenings available in both 70mm and 35mm.
