Buckingham Palace announces Queen’s Platinum Jubilee plans

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next June – marking her 70-year reign will see a live concert and a four-day Bank Holiday weekend.

Buckingham Palace has announced more details around the celebrations, including the return of Trooping the Colour on the first day of the special four-day Bank Holiday from 2-5 June.

There will be a live concert at Buckingham Palace, called the Platinum Party at the Palace.

The events will mark the Queen’s 70-year reign.

    • Queen will celebrate 70 years on the throne with a concert at Buckingham Palace
    • Celebrations will be held over a special 4-day Bank holiday, the first week of June
    • Expected to bring out the biggest stars in entertainment
    • The Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be marked throughout 2022

As with the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees, the celebrations will take place during the first week of June.

On the second day of the Bank Holiday weekend, a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

The following day the monarch will be joined by members of the royal family at the Derby and the live concert will follow that evening.

No performers have been announced yet but it is billed as bringing together the world’s biggest entertainers to celebrate the most significant and joyous moments of the Queen’s 70-year reign.

There will also be year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world, Buckingham Palace said.
