Protester attacked at China’s Manchester consulate
A protester in Manchester was dragged into Chinese consulate grounds and beaten up.
A BBC journalist filmed the men forcing the man – a Hong Kong pro-democracy protester – inside the compound, before he managed to escape with the help of the police and other demonstrators.
The man told a BBC journalist “they dragged me inside, they beat me up.”
A spokesperson said protesters had displayed an insulting portrait of China’s president.
The Foreign Office said it was seeking clarity whilst the Greater Manchester Police has launched an investigation.
