Prince Harry’s charity row
There’s coverage of the fallout from the resignation of Prince Harry from Sentebale, the charity he co-founded. The charity’s chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, gave interviews over the weekend and accused Harry of bullying and harassment and says he unleashed the “Sussex machine” on her.
- The Daily Mirror reports that the charity Sentebale’s chair, Dr Sophie Chandaku, said Harry had “wrecked! a fundraising event by announcing he would bring a Netflix TV crew with him.
- The Daily Mail also leads on comments from Dr Chandauka’s “explosive interview”. She said the duke had tried to make her “defend Meghan publicly” after an “embarrassing polo match spat”, the Mail says.
- The Metro says Dr Chandauka says that donors had stopped supporting the charity because of the “toxicity” of the prince’s “brand.”
- The Guardian reports the Duke of Sussex was said to have initiated the campaign by the “unleashing of the Sussex machine”.
- The Sun reports that donations to Sentable “dried up” after Harry and his wife, Meghan stepped down from royal duties and relocated to the US.
Donald Trump outburst at Putin
There’s plenty of talk around Donald Trump today, with US tariffs and talks with the UK PM leading the way. There is also coverage of Trump’s outburst to Russian President Putin, with the US president issuing a threat of tariffs if Moscow does not agree to a peace deal in a month.
- The Guardian reports Donald Trump’s “outburst at Putin” for his approach towards a ceasefire in Ukraine. The US president has threatened to levy secondary tariffs on “all the oil coming out of Russia” if Moscow does not agree on a peace deal in a month.
- The FT reports on Trump’s tariffs reporting the US president is “pissed off” with Putin for prolonging ceasefire talks.
- The i newspaper reports on PM Keir Starmer’s reaction to Trump’s tariffs on imported cars, steel and aluminium. The prime minister has warned Trump not to start a trade war, the paper says. The two leaders had a phone call on Sunday – after the paper went to print.
- The Independent reports on the call between the two leaders, saying Starmer has left the door open to retaliatory tariffs against the US after Trump announced a 25 per cent import tax on all cars.
Donald Trump plans for a third term
The world is reacting to a recent interview Trump gave in which he suggested he would seek a third presidential term – despite the US Constitution only allowing two terms.
- The Independent says plans for a third Trump term are underway as his team explores the idea – no matter what the law says.
- The Times says acting as JD Vance’s vice president could be one route to taking back the White House after the 2028 election – despite the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution.
- “A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said in a Sunday-morning phone call with NBC News, referring to his allies. “But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” reports NBC News.
