Sorry meal deal fans, this one from Maccas has just got a bit more spenny.

McDonald’s fan have been fuming as the £1.99 Big Mac meal deal now costs £2.99.

The offer is available when you fill out a survey on the chain’s Food for Thought website.

To be able to access it, customers have to buy something from McDonald’s and make sure they keep the receipt because, within 60 days, they’ll need to type the 12-digit code into the website.

Complete the survey and hey presto, you’ve got another code that gets you your choice of a Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish, McChicken Sandwich, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, six McNuggets or the McPlant.

You can also choose either a medium fries or a salad as a side.

The price of the deal has risen by £1 (Picture: Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

While McDonald’s has confirmed the price hike was implemented on November 1, customers who got their survey code before then can still get their meal deal at the old price of £1.99.

Still, fans of the old deal aren’t happy, with one taking to social media to quip: ‘My days of taking pictures of customers receipts with a zoom lens for a cheap lunch are all over…’

Another said: ‘£1.99 was good value. £2.99 is too much.’

However, even with this £1 price increase, diners are still saving money with this deal, since, for example, a Big Mac medium meal usually costs £5.29.

However, that does also come with a drink, while the £2.99 meal does not.

In happier news, a Crocs x McDonald’s collab is hitting the UK, and fans can win a free pair this weekend.

The partnership has been launched as a part of the chain’s Festive Wins promotion, which is running on its app from November 1 until November 31, giving customers a chance to save money on fan favourites, including Big Mac, McPlant and McNuggets.

All customers need to do is download the McDonald’s app and tap on Festive Wins to reveal the offer available. Each one will expire at midnight on the day that they are awarded.
