Penn Badgley teases tense final season of You and familiar faces are in town

Netflix’s You – no, not you – has taken the UK by storm since it first aired in 2018, and now its final season is approaching, we’ve got some new teases about what to expect.

Penn Badgley, 36, perhaps didn’t suspect he would shoot to fame via the seedy character of creepy stalker-killer Joe Goldberg. But he has.

And while in 2024 we will get the fifth and final season of what has been a particularly bloody tale, there’s still a lot to be wrapped up.

After fleeing cities from New York to LA, and then to London last season, Joe is heading back to the Big Apple for the final hurrah – and some familiar faces are waiting for him.

The psychopathic book-lover first killed in New York when he fell for an aspiring author Guinevere Beck, and – weirdly – we all fell in love with the show with its darkly comic, unsettling energy, and gripping narrative.

But some teasers arrived to get us all excited at tonight’s Netflix Tudum Festival in Brazil, where the streaming service made a whole load of announcements to an incredibly excitable audience.

Popping up on the big screen, Penn game us some You updates, as he said: ‘Ola, Brazil. I heard you’re on the end of your seats waiting and theorising about the epic conclusion to You.

It then cut to a video of a man threatening Joe Goldberg with a weapon, and saying: ‘You know it’s funny this game, every year some body gets hurt.’

Then, our protagonist – and antagonist, to be fair – appears to fall out a window. Oh no – we mean – oh, yes! Ah, confusion.

We sure hope so, as Joe has piled quite a few bodies high as the series has ticked over into its fifth season.

‘You’re considering what – or should I say who – Joe will come up against as he finally returns to New York,’ said Penn, in Joe’s internal monologue voice fans of the show will all recognise.

He added: ‘Though I can’t say who just yet, as we all know there are many loose ends from Joe’s past. The question is, who are you?’

The video then cut to some familiar faces from previous seasons.

These include therapist Dr Nicky (John Stamos), suburban couple Sherry (Shalita Grant) and Cary Conrad (Travis Van Winkle), Paco (Luca Padovan), Ellie (Jenna Ortega), Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) and Lady Phoebe (Tilly Keeper).

    Oh, em, gee.
