Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon steered Australia to a famous two-wicket win over England in an all-time classic Ashes Test at Edgbaston.
In scenes eerily similar to the 2005 Ashes Test at the same venue, England were on the verge of victory when they took an eighth wicket with Australia still 54 runs from the target.
But while England were celebrating a tense Ashes victory 18 years ago, on this occasion Australia got over the line to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
That was largely down to Cummins – who hit a brisk 44 – and 16 not out from Nathan Lyon, with Australia’s 10th-wicket partnership putting on 55.
The winning moment came as Cummins guided a thick edge down to third man and two England fielders were unable to prevent the boundary, sparking wild celebrations from the Australian dressing room.
