Oppenheimer and Succession have led the winners at the Golden Globes 2024, dominating the major categories.
The Christopher Nolan film about the man behind the atomic bomb was awarded one of the top prizes, Best Motion Picture Drama, while the filmmaker himself took home Best Director for the first time after six nominations.
Cillian Murphy was also recognised for his performance as J Robert Oppenheimer, taking home the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, and Robert Downey Jr won Best Supporting Actor.
Its cultural counterpoint Barbie, which led to the summer of Barbenheimer, was not forgotten by the Golden Globes, and was given the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.
The other major film awards went to Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone who were awarded Best Actress gongs for their roles in the upcoming Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon respectively.
French thriller, Anatomy of a Fall, meanwhile, was deemed the Best Non-English movie and as having the Best Screenplay.

Over in TV, Succession won the Best Drama, while its actors including Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfayden, as well as Kieran Culkin, who defeated co-stars Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, won major acting gongs.
Accepting the award, Kieran said: ‘I was nominated for a Golden Globe like 20 years ago and when that moment passed, I sort of remember thinking I’m never going to be back in this room again.
‘But thanks to Succession I’ve been in here a couple of times, I accepted I would never be on the stage so this is a nice moment. Suck it Pedro [Pascal], sorry, mine.’
