OpenAI launches GPT-4 – the latest version of ChatGPT

The latest version of ChatGPT – the world-famous AI chatbot, has been launched by OpenAI.

GPT-4 is the newest model and is capable of processing images, generating captions and providing recipe suggestions from photos of ingredients.

The latest version can also process up to 25,000 words, eight times more than ChatGPT.

ChatGPT has been wildly popular since its launch in November 2022, with many users asking for help with marketing copy, computer code and homework.

The newest version – GPT-4 will initially only be available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers who pay $20 per month for a premium membership.

GPT-4 uses algorithms and predictive text to create new content based on instructions from the user. According to OpenAI, the model has “more advanced reasoning skills” than ChatGPT but the generative AI is still prone to “hallucinations” –  inventing facts or making reasoning errors.

OpenAI has trained GPT-4 on human feedback and has spent six months on safety features for the model.

As the technology continues to develop and grow, there are concerns that it could replace human jobs in the future. Microsoft’s Bing search engine platform has already started using GPT-4, and OpenAI has announced new partnerships with language learning app Duolingo and Be My Eyes to create AI chatbots that assist users using natural language.
