Nicole Kidman has made a major move to end her marriage to Keith Urban after nearly 20 years.
It was first reported yesterday that the actress and country music star had split after 19 years of marriage.
Nicole, 58, and Keith, 57, married in June 2006 and share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
After first breaking the news that the couple have been living apart since the start of the summer. TMZ has now reported that the Australian actress has filed for divorce.
It comes after it was reported that Keith made the decision to separate, with Nicole taking care of their daughters and ‘holding the family together through this difficult time’.
Meanwhile, a source told People: ‘Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.’

‘She didn’t want this,’ they continued, referring to Nicole. ‘She has been fighting to save the marriage.’
Nicole and Keith first met in January 2005 at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, an event celebrating Australians in Hollywood.
The following year, in May 2006, the couple they announced their engagement.
Just a month later, on June 25, 2006, the couple married in a lavish yet intimate ceremony at St. Patrick’s Estate in Sydney, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow celebrities.

However just a few months later Keith entered rehab for alcohol abuse, while Nicole stood by his side.
Soon after the split was first reported, footage resurfaced showing Keith detailing how close he came to ‘blowing his marriage to smithereens’.
Last year he gave a speech at the Australian Film Institute, paying tribute to his wife as she was honoured with a Life Achievement Award.
Visibly upset while sharing a rare insight into their marriage, the country music star struggled to hold back tears when speaking about being admitted into rehab shortly after their 2006 wedding.
‘We got married in June 2006, and barely four months into our marriage, the addictions that I had done really nothing about blew our marriage to smithereens,’ he told the full auditorium at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
‘I went into the Betty Ford Center for three months. Four months into a marriage, and I’m in rehab for three months with no idea what was going to happen to us.’
However, he said Nicole ‘pushed through every negative voice and chose love’. ‘And here we are tonight 18 years later,’ he added.
A few months ago, the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary in June, when there was one notable sign of the couple’s upcoming separation.
Nicole posted a sweet photo with Keith to mark their special milestone, captioning the post: ‘Happy Anniversary Baby’.
While Keith commented a love heart emoji underneath the post, he did not share his own tribute to Nicole and their marriage on his own feed.
The pair have a reported combined net worth of almost $500million (£250million). The actress alone is reported to be worth $375million (£184million) while Urban brings in an additional $114million (£56million).

They are also believed to own 11 properties across the United States and Australia.
In July, speculation about the state of their marriage intensified after she reportedly applied for residency in Portugal – with Keith’s name noticeably missing from the paperwork.
However, a source at the time said the musician was simply busy on tour at the time of the residency appointment.
Last month Nicole shared a series of ‘summer memories’ on Instagram, with the photo dump noticeably not including her husband.
Metro has contacted representatives for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban for comment.
