Newsnight viewers blast ex-chief immigration officer over ‘unspeakably grim vision of UK’
The Daily Express says BBC NEWSNIGHT viewers have condemned comments made by the UK’s ex-chief immigration officer on social media, after he let loose a “grim” vision of Britain’s asylum system.
BBC Newsnight host Emily Maitlis, 51, broadcast last night’s episode at Dover in Kent following the tragic death of at least 27 migrants in the Channel. The broadcaster’s flagship current affairs programme featured appearances from Tory Home Office Minister Tom Pursglove, 33, French MP Mireille Clapot, 58, the CEO of the Refugee Council Enver Solomon and the UK’s former UK Border Force chief Kevin Saunders.
