Newcastle sack Steve Bruce following £305m Saudi takeover
Newcastle United’s new owners have sacked head coach Steve Bruce.
Bruce was expected to be replaced following the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, led by the PIF, completing a £305 million takeover of the football club.
Bruce was in charge of Newcastle’s defeat to Tottenham – his 1,000th match as manager.
The latest defeat left Newcastle second bottom of the Premier League and winless after their opening eight games of the campaign.
Newcastle FC is in the process of recruiting a new head coach. According to Sky Sports News former Roma boss, Paulo Fonseca has emerged as a contender.
Graeme Jones will lead the team on an interim basis, starting with Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.
He will be supported by the coaching team of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, Ben Dawson and Simon Smith. https://t.co/uvkGGdpEUa
