Newcastle and PSG share points in Champions League Group of Death classic following late penalty drama
The Metro says Newcastle United have kept their Champions League hopes alive with a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night – but it was a cruel result for Eddie Howe’s side following late penalty drama.
Alexander Isak put the Premier League side ahead in the first half before Kylian Mbappe controversially scored a 98th-minute spot-kick after Tino Livramento was deemed to have handled the ball in the area, with the incident checked by VAR.
The result has set up a mammoth tie with AC Milan at St James’ Park in the final gameweek on December 13 with the Magpies still able to progress from Group F – dubbed the ‘Group of Death’ – which also includes Borussia Dortmund, who have secured their own knockout spot with a 3-1 victory over the Italians.
