Mail on Sunday – ‘Boris blast at BBC over partygate’
The Mail on Sunday leads with reports that PM Boris Johnson has condemned the BBC as ‘shamefully frivolous, vengeful and partisan’ over its coverage of the No 10 ‘Partygate’ row. Actor Naomie Harris shares the front splash as she opens up about being ‘gropped’ by a ‘major star’ at an audition.
The Independent – ‘Booster jabs for over-30s to fend off Omicron wave’
The Independent’s Sunday front page leads with the new people in their 30s can book their booster jab now before the rollout of third Covid vaccine doses officially opens for under-40s. The front splash reports the acceleration in the booster rollout is due to the threat of Omicron spreading.

Sunday Mirror – ‘New PM Xmas scandal’
The Sunday Mirror has a picture it says was taken on 15 December last year, showing Boris Johnson hosting a Downing Street quiz. The paper adds that according to a source it was “purely a social event”.
A Number 10 spokesperson said: “This was a virtual quiz. Downing Street staff were often required to be in the office to work on the pandemic response so those who were in the office for work may have attended virtually from their desks.
“The prime minister briefly took part virtually in a quiz to thank staff for their hard work throughout the year.”
Sunday Express – ‘It’s make or break week’
The Sunday Express says Boris Johnson faces a “week of reckoning” with his “premiership in the balance”. The latest from the Tv show Strictly Come Dancing also makes the front splash.
The Observer – ‘Scientists fear falling trust in PM’
Third COVID jabs are being opened up to those in their 30s in England from tomorrow, The Observer reports. It also says an opinion poll has put Labour nine points ahead of the Tories.
The Sunday Telegraph – ‘PM faces cabinet revolt over Covid rules’
Senior government ministers are pledging to “resist” any Plan C COVID restrictions, the Sunday Telegraph reports. “At least six cabinet ministers are understood to have concernsthat the government is moving towards more draconian measures,” it adds.
The Sunday Times – ‘NHS staff ready to jab children as young as five’
Healthcare staff have been told to start preparing for the “mass vaccination of primary school children”, the Sunday Times reports.
A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson told Sky News: “COVID-19 vaccines for under 12s have not yet been approved by our independent medicines regulator, the MHRA, and are therefore not used in the UK.”
