Two people have been arrested after the body of a 5-year-old boy was found in a dumpster in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Police Department issued a critical missing person report on Wednesday after Prince McCree, 5, went missing. McCree was last seen that afternoon around 1.00pm.

The next morning just before 9.00am, McCree’s body was located in a dumpster about a mile south of where he was last seen. His cause of death has not yet been determined.

Two persons of interest have since been arrested. They were only identified as a 27-year-old man and a 15-year-old teenage male.

The Milwaukee Police said the the situation was a ‘fluid and ongoing homicide investigation.’

No other details about the persons of interest have been released as of Friday.

Local politicians and residents have since spoken out about the tragic death, which has shaken the quiet Milwaukee neighborhood.

Wisconsin State Senator LaTonya Johnson, who also lives in McCree’s neighborhood, said the family was ‘distraught’ and going door to door to find their beloved child.

‘It was a shock,’ she told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. ‘This neighborhood is relatively quiet. You don’t see a lot of police activity. We knew it was something serious.

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said he was ‘deeply saddened’ to learn of McCree’s death.

‘My condolences to those who loved him. I pray for the safety and well-being of all Milwaukee children,’ the mayor said in a statement.

Meanwhile, family members have since started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for McCree’s funeral and headstone.

According to the organizer, McCree has a brother and sister and just started kindergarten earlier this fall.

‘Prince loved Transformers, Spiderman, Fortnite, Roblox, school, learning, and Baby Shark when he was younger,’ the organizers said. ‘Our little angel was very loved by his father, mother, brother, sister, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many other loved ones and friends.’
