Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been named Premier League Player of the Month for February – and in doing so has equalled a record set by Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah.

Rashford’s sensational form continued last month, with five goals in four games as United beat Crystal Palace, Leicester and Leeds, and also came from 2-0 to draw against the latter at Old Trafford.

Outside of the Premier League, he was also instrumental in his side reaching and winning the Carabao Cup final, as well as knocking Barcelona out of the Europa League to reach the round of 16 stage.

The 25-year-old won the accolade ahead of Fulham duo Bernd Leno and Manor Solomon, Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Tottenham’s Emerson Royal and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

This is Rashford’s third POTM award for this campaign, after triumphing in September and January, and as a result he equals Salah’s record for most POTM wins in a single season.

The Liverpool forward achieved this feat during his sensational 2017/18 campaign, where he scored a record 32 goals in just 36 games.

‘It’s obviously always good to be amongst the conversations. To be awarded this Player of Month, I feel like especially in the last three months, you could give it to anyone,’ Rashford told MUTV.

‘Any of the people that have been voted deserve to win it, it obviously makes me feel really proud that I have managed to do it three times.

‘All the players that have been up for it, even some of the ones that haven’t been up for it deserve it. It shows that, as a team, we are improving and, hopefully, we can continue doing that.’

Asked about his standout moment from February, the forward added: ‘Probably the Nou Camp. Last time I played there away, I felt like there were chances in the game, but I just didn’t take any of the chances.

‘We didn’t create enough of the chances that I thought were there in the game. They ended up beating us 3-0 that night and it was on my mind this time to go back there and make sure we create chances, and we try to convert them.’

This is Rashford’s four POTM award overall, leaving him just three behind the all-time record for most wins which is held by Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane.

In addition to Rashford’s award, Erik ten Hag was named Manager of the Month while David de Gea took home Save of the Month for his stop against Iheanacho in United’s 3-0 win over the Foxes.
