Manchester United’s latest hiccup has ‘gone down badly’ with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos

Manchester United’s poor performance in their 1-1 draw against Brentford has ‘gone down badly’ with the club’s new minority owners as pressure remains on Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils were incredibly fortunate to leave west London with a point after being on the back foot throughout Saturday’s match, with Brentford racking up an astonishing 31 shots before finally scoring in the 99th minute.

Thomas Frank’s side hit the woodwork three times and had 80 touches in the penalty area, while United have now given up 106 shots in their last four matches – or 26.5 per game on average.

A dramatic 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final just before the international break had hinted that United had turned a corner, but now it feels as though the result was simply papering over the cracks.
