Longbridge Sainsbury’s shoppers collapse with breathing issues as store evacuated
Daily Mirror says Sainsbury’s shoppers have been evacuated from a store after reports of ‘people collapsing’ due to breathing issues.
Seven people in Longbridge have been treated at the scene for respiratory symptoms including two who have been taken to hospital.
The full nature of the incident is not known but members of the public have said there is a huge emergency response with several other shops as well as a nearby college evacuated.
West Midlands Fire Service said around 150 people were evacuated from the supermarket.
One onlooker told Birmingham Live: “The police have said there’s been an incident involving some sort of gas. People were on the floor gasping for air after collapsing.”
